Online Training for Mental Health Professionals Treating
Bereaved Parents

No matter what the circumstances of a child’s death, parents’ lives are shattered beyond recognition. A child’s death is traumatic and significantly life changing. When any mother, father, or couple walk into your office for the first time, you may feel at a loss of where to begin. You may experience vicarious trauma as your client(s) reveals details of a child’s death.

Over the years I have counseled many grieving parents with complex trauma. It has been my greatest professional privilege and challenge to support mothers and fathers in fostering a meaningful and rich life even as they endure timeless loss.

The cause of a child’s death may be due to illness, accidental overdose, fentanyl poisoning, fatal accident, suicide, perinatal or postpartum death. I contend that there is no right or wrong way to grieve the death of one’s child. Likewise, there is no one way to approach treatment. Trauma research has given us important and useful information in understanding the neurobiological effects upon mind and body. Having a full understanding of a bereaved parent’s loss is the first critical step in treating complex bereavement.

This 4-week advanced virtual training will will equip mental health professionals with critical knowledge and skills to effectively work with parents suffering from Complex Bereavement.
